• Normandy Ferries Ltd carried 14,935 freight vehicles and trailers in 1970, plus 4052 manufacturers' cars and 895 export or import caravans. Normandy's roll-on ferries, run in harness with Saga of France, operate between Southampton and Le Havre and also to Rosslare.
These figures, a record for the company, were revealed last week on a special trip to France to show freight customers the facilities.
This was the second such trip this year, and the travellers included representatives from A. M. Garage, Ferrymasters, Transcontainer Express, Pickfords, Bullens (Midlands) Ltd, Containerway and Roadferry, Transfruit, Howard Tenens Services, and Cawthorn and Sinclair.
