Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Bosch Ltd next month, Both-the centre and the earth electrodes have a very small diameter (about 0-032 in.), which means that the shape of the insulator can be such that it will give better heat retention and dissipation than in the standard spark plug. There is also greater efficiency in igniting the fuel/air mixture, as the cross-sectional area of the electrodes is so small that the spark between them is not shielded from the mixture.

The platinum alloy used to make the electrodes is highly resistant to corrosion and burning away, so that much greater effective life is achieved. Furthermore, the makers claim these plugs never require resetting, although occasional cleaning may be beneficial.

One version of this new range, W 200 Pl, is suitable as a replacement for spark plugs W 175 TI and W 225 TI, and can be used on a wide range of vehicles, including Continental vans such as Renault, Volkswagen and Fiat, the full list being obtainable on application to Bosch Ltd,
