MR. C. M. SHERIDAN, C.M.G.. aged 53, has been selected by the Minister of Transport as the new Licensing Authority and Chairman of the Traffic Commissioners for the East Midland traffic area. He will take up his appointment in Nottingham next Thursday, February 25, replacing Mr. C. R. Hodgson, who is taking up similar posts in the North Western area.

The new Licensing Authority is a barrister by training, and has not long returned from the Far East. He was educated at Ampleforth College and Liverpool University and was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1952.

As Solicitor General. and more recently as Attorney General, in the Federation of Malaya (latterly Malaysia) he was legal adviser to the Ministry of Transport and the Commissioner for Road Transport.
