LONDON TRANSPORT is likely to buy 51 Leyland National 10.3m buses to overcome its immediate shortage of vehicles, subject to GLC approval.
"The Leyland National is the only type of bus that is readily available," an LT spokesman said. "We have 101 Bristol buses on order that will fill our long-term single deck plans and deliveries of Fleetlines and Metro Scania deckers will bring the decker fleet up to strength." The Nationals would probably be sold once the spares arises was over and double-deck deliveries had caught up.
