STATING that he could not be bound by previous decisions, the East Midland Licensing Authority recently granted the South Notts Bus Co., Ltd., permission to jun a number of cheap tours from Clifton housing estate, Nottingham, from March to October.

Nottingham City Council objected on the ground that the Trent Motor Traction. Co., Ltd., was refused a licence to run, tours from Apsley in 1937, since when it had been the principle that tows should start from a central point in the city.

Mr. L. W. A. White said that if Clifton residents had to travel into Nottingham to take a tour, they would add 10d. to the cost of a 2s. 6d. trip.

SAVING FUEL AND WEIGHT

A PAPER on fuel economy by Mr. tA. FL Tennant, chief engineer of Ribble Motor Services, Ltd., and another on the development of lightweight buses by Mr. W. G. Copestake, chief engineer of Birmingham Transport Department, are to be read at the Folkestone conference of the Public Transport Association next year.

Mr. Tennant's address will be on April 22 and Mr. Copestake's on the following day, both being delivered in the morning.
