IN the first 48 weeks of this year, 1 British Road Services has lost £1m. of revenue, compared with the corresponding period of last year. Traffic in the first 44 weeks of the year has dropped by 4m. tons and mileage has declined by 45.3m.

COMPENSATION agreements

'between the Road Haulage Executive and 11 hauliers, totalling £512,331, were confirmed by the Transport Arbitration Tribunal in London on Tuesday. The hauliers concerned were:— Slater Bros. (Brigg), Ltd., £21,500; 1'. Bates and Son (Hauliers), Ltd., £34,750; J. Smith and Co. (Transport), Ltd., £40,250; T. Geldeard (Transport), Ltd., £22,481; Sunderland and Sons (Kings Langley), Ltd., £48,000; Ralph Gee and Sons, Ltd., £102,000; S. Maeer and Sons (Knottingicy), Ltd., £25,000; L. W. Clayton, Ltd., £35,000; Maddens Road Service, Ltd., £32,500; John Thomas (Forwarding), Ltd., £20,850; J. A. Webster and Co., Ltd.. £130,000.

GOVERNMENT RESPECTS R.H.A.

KTEVER had any Government treated a transport organization with greater respect than the present Administration regarded the Road Haulage Association, said Mr. F. Rudman. chairman of the North-Western (E.) Area of the R.H.A., at its annual dinner last Friday. He added that it was the national chairman. Mr. R. Winterbottom, a Lancashire man, who hail established the position.
