• EDDIE STOBART HAS applied for 011 authorisation to base 50 vehicles and 70 trailers at a new facility at Manor Park in Runcorn, Cheshire.
The company will move part of its Warrington operation to the 365,000ft2 warehouse, taking 50 jobs with it. and creating 10 new jobs.
It will be used to fulfil a contract with Johnson & Johnson, Stobart has signed a 15-year contract to lease the site from the Scottish Widows Investment Partnership Property Trust. Scottish Widows bought the site for £22m from Gladman Developments, based in Congleton. Cheshire.
In May, in nearby Widnes, the first shipment of goods passed through the new 528,000ft2 chilled distribution centre Stobart operates for Tesco. The contract is worth about £25m per year to Stobart. and is eventually expected to create around 5,000 jobs.
