Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE LICENCE of a one-vehicle operation has been given a reprieve after the company accepted an undertaking to put its house in order by the end of October.

Conisborough-based concrete garage manufacturers Peter and John McCormack, trading as McCormack & Sons, agreed to write to the North Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney by the end of October, listing all the things they had put in place to meet their 0-licensing obligations.

Vehicle examiner Peter Moses said that during a maintenance investigation in January only one inspection record could be produced. He was told that the other records had been destroyed in a fire in May 2003. There was no written driver defect reporting system.

Peter McCormack said that suspension or revocation of the licence would shut the firm down. He produced inspection records and driver defect report books now in use. He agreed to enter inspection dates every three months on a calendar, together with test dates. VED and insurance expiry dates and tachograph check dates.

The TC said he was worried about the ignorance of the regulations. He felt that McCormack did not fully understand what was required and needed professional help.
