Gang steals four trucks with high-value

loads. Jennifer Ball reports.

POLICE ARE HUNTING a gang who broke into a haulage yard in Sandbach before making off with £800,000 worth of vehicles and their loads.

Four trucks containing Mars confectionery, wine, Budweiser and Carlsberg beer were stolen from Pollock (Scotrans) in Lodge Road between 3pm last Saturday (7 August) and 7.22am the following morning. The vehicles have all been recovered locally but their loads are still missing.

Police believe it was a carefully planned raid and are trying to discover why the CCTV system and alarm did not function properly.

A Cheshire police spokesman says: "We would like to hear from anyone who saw any of the offenders or the vehicles in Merseyside, Greater Manchester or being driven away from Sandbach."

Pollock (Scotrans) declined to comment.
