Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

tainer transport operation in Southampton with 12 tractors and 16 container trailers, delivering to destinations around the UK, Proprietor Roy Charrett says the DOS version of Roadbase he bought 10 months ago is fine as far as it goes but does not go as far as he would like.

Although the company uses Roadbase for keeping driver records and maintenance scheduling/recording, It does not cope so well with scheduling vehicle movements. "We need the diary tailored to suit our existing planning sheets. We can't schedule vehicle movements and track container numbers the way we'd like to," he says. This, he adds, means "we haven't been able to do the vehicle castings very well".

However, Charrett admits his knowledge of the software is not thorough. Although he got a standard one-day training course on purchase, he has avoided further training at about £300 a day plus expenses. "I thought that was a bit strong," he says.

However, he gives the software seven to eight out of 10 for value. "I feel I got what I paid for," he says.

"When I bought it, prices for similar software ran up to £20,000. In many ways I should perhaps have spent S2,000-3,000 more on something to give me the lot, but we'll stick with this for now. It's a good base on which to build."
