Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Falsification of tachograph records at home and abroad has cost a driver employed by Milnethorpebased Ernest Vickers Transport 23,205 in fines and costs.

Maurice Holliday, of Darlington, pleaded guilty before Penrith magistrates to seven offences of using a false Instrument, a tachograph chart; and to two offences of falsifying charts. He was fined 2350 on each offence and ordered to pay prosecution costs of 255.

Michael Fisher, for the Vehicle Inspectorate, said Holliday's tachograph charts had revealed substantial amounts of missing mileage when the odometer readings were compared with the distance trace. These varied between 102km and 352km.

Defending, Graham Quigley maintained that Holliday had been under pressure from his employer and mei& customers.
