• Cwmbranbased Mastergreen was given a severe warning when its licence for six vehicles and six trailers was renewed by South Wales Deputy Traffic Commissioner Gerrard Sullivan.
The company, which specialises in moving other operators' trailers, was called before the DTC following three alleged offences: an allegedly unpaid fine imposed at Monmouth magistrates court; a prohibition notice issued for a tyre defect on a trailer; and an allegation that it used a vehicle registered in Northern Ireland without the correct registration document.
Company secretary John Davies said the company had no knowledge of any conviction at Monmouth, and the vehicle concerned was never operated by the company and was sold to On Line Contracts last year. The fine and back duty would nevertheless be paid, he said.
The defective trailer did not belong to the company, said Davies, though he did admit the company owned the Irish vehicle at the time of the conviction, but had not been registered because he could not obtain a registration document.
Sullivan warned that irregularities must be cleared up.
