ANEW model for 9-ton gross loads, giving a payload capacity of about 6 tons, was announced on Monday by
E.R.F., Ltd., Sandbach, Cheshire. It is designated LKG44 and is available in three forms—standard, medium and end-tipper.
The cab is similar to that used in the larger E.R.F. models and incorporates heating and demisting equipment. The deep curved windscreen has no corner pillars and gives an exceptionally wide, uninterrupted angle of vision. The bonnet is soundproofed.
A Gardner 4LK four-cylindered oil engine developing 57 b.h.p. at 2,100 nom). transmits the drive through a singledry-plate clutch of I2-in.

Girling two-leading-shoe brakes have vacuum assistance, the exhauster being driven from the engine. All drums are 16 in. diameter, the front shoes being 2+ in. wide and those at the rear, 31 in. All the tyres are of 7.50-20 (10-ply) section, with twins at the rear. Electrical equipment is operated by a 12v, positive-earth-return system with single-pole wiring.
All three versions are 7 ft. 2 in. wide, 7 ft. 10+ in. high, have a front track of 5 ft. 8',1 in., a rear track of 5 ft. 6; in., a frame width of 3 ft. 6 in. and a frame height (laden) of 3 ft. .1 in. Other dimensions vary. The wheelbase of the standard model is 12 ft. 10 in.; of the medium version, II ft. 4 in., and of the tipper, 8 ft. 9 in., giving respective overall lengths of 20 ft. 10 in., 18 ft. 10 in. and 15 ft. 4 in. The internal body length of the standard model is 16 ft., of the medium chassis, 14 ft., and of the tipper, 10 ft..
