HILARY DEVEY’S Pall-Ex is bidding farewell to a second founder member in as many weeks, with Rugby-based Panic Transport switching to rival Palletline.

Panic Transport will cover postcodes in the Warwickshire area for Palletline from this month. It comes after Leighton Buzzard’s Miniclipper started operating in Hertfordshire for Palletline (CM 12 April), also this month.

Palletline MD Kevin Buchanan says of the new arrivals: “These are strong companies, which I know personally.” However, Pall-Ex has already found replacements to fill the gap, with former Palletline member Bill Chippington replacing Miniclipper, while Transit Worldwide Logistics does the same for Panic Transport.

Pall-Ex MD Adrian Russell says: “The wheel turns and, as a network in a competitive environment, we expect these things.

“We are delighted to have our new members on board, and understand that this was a business decision [for Miniclipper]. No door is never closed.” • Long-term UK Pallets member Peckover Transport has moved to the Fortec Distribution Network.

Richard Clayton, MD of the Bradford-based firm, decided to make the move this February after being impressed by the Fortec management team’s support.

“The fact that it has a hub [in Warrington] will help me to compete,” says Clayton.

Peckover runs 23 vehicles in a mostly-Iveco fleet. It will cover most of the LS and HG postcodes for Fortec. It previously operated in Huddersfield and Halifax for UK Pallets.
