SUCKLING TRANSPoRT, the Essex-based independent petrochemical haulage company, has awarded MAN’s Southampton dealer Harwoods its inaugural Service Provider of the Year award.

Suckling fleet engineer Dan Bauckham says: “Harwoods’ key to success is consistency; its dedicated team of technicians and parts team has reached an extremely high level of service, and then stayed there,” says Bauckham.

“The award is well-deserved and reflects the professionalism and flexibility Harwoods provides us.” The company had been thinking of introducing an awards programme for some time. Bauckham says the criteria for the award includes assessing annual test firsttime pass rates, workshop audit scores and service performance, which is measured through Suckling Transport’s non-conformance processes in its ISo9001 registered quality system.

In all, 12 service providers were used by Suckling Transport to maintain its road tanker fleet.

Harwoods services and maintains the Suckling Transport Shell fleet that operates from the Hythe terminal in Southampton. Last year, the dealer won Dealer of the Year at the Motor Transport Awards. General manager Richard Skudder says: “We were at the end of one of our regular catch-up meetings with Suckling Transport when Bauckham made the announcement.

“We are chuffed to bits, and, coming on the back of our Motor Transport award, it’s been quite a good 12 months for Harwoods,” he adds. MAN dealer Purfleet Commercials in West Thurrock finished second, and independent engineering company BTS Engineering in Grangemouth came third.
