GiVEN VOLVO'S deserved reputation for safety, it is ironic that the mirrors on its heavy trucks have been repeatedly singled out for criticism. Their view rearwards is fine, but their location and sheer bulk create a large blindspot.
' Now, however, Volvo has accepted there is a problem; from the second week in June all new FMs and FHs will be supplied with a new design of mirror. Smaller and mounted further away from the cab, it looks set to solve the problem at a stroke.
