Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Look for several launches among the vans and pickups, but manufacturers who want to stand out from the crowd will need to be generous on the 'standard options' list. We look at what's hot and what's not.

Vans remain a means to an end, but the lift in quality has given them more panache, more gadgets, more electronics and more options. In fact one of the questions you might want to ask the manufacturers when you land on their stand is "what's been added to the 'standard options' list?"

Perhaps the biggest launch was the combined introduction from the PSA group of Peugeot, Fiat and Citroen at the start of the year with launch of the middleweight Expert/ Scudo/Dispatch.

Returning to the show after a four-year absence, Peugeot will launch the 207 van and the Expert. The latter has eight window options, with GVVVs ranging from 2,661 to 2,963kg. Payload varies from 913 to 1,323kg (the higher figure being for a chassis-cab) with service intervals of two years, with the distance between services double that of the old Expert at 20,000 miles. There are also three engine choices.

Fiat's Scudo is also on the launch pad, along with three new options by Citroen. The new-look Relay breaks cover in Combi form, and is complemented by the Dispatch which has 27 variations.

The third new outing is for Citroen's best selling commercial vehicle, the Berlingo, in Euro-4 form. Its engines include the 1.6HDi diesel, and a Euro-4 compliant 75hp 1.4i petrol engine which can be converted to run on LPG and petrol.

LDV, Britain's favourite municipal provider, will launch a Maxus chassis-cab 12 months after the launch of the panel-van version. It's debateable whether the chassis-cab version's delayed arrival has affected sales or the success of the panel van, but its debut at the CV Show will be eagerly awaited by dropside and tipper operators.
