• A major new player has emerged in the UK truckmounted sweeper market with the launch of the Schmidt SK650. At the British unveiling of its first truck sweeper body, Schmidt UK left no doubt that it intends to seriously test Johnston's market dominance.
The Schmidt Group is renowned for its compact sweepers; Schmidt UK managing director Paul Driver said: "From today, there's a new manufacturer with truck sweepers." The SK650 is said to take a "totally new look" at truckbased mounting. It is built as a single package—the company says: This is not a sweeping unit bolted in to a truck body."
