Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

With reference to your long term report on London Country's Leyland Tiger/Berkhof (CM, April 5).

1 compliment you on a superb article, but, must poin out one or two statements which, I feel, are misleading.

Firstly, towards the end of your article you mention, on October 16, the vehicle developed a gearbox problem and a new gearbox was fitted at Leyland Service Centre at Brimsdown. I must point out, that the Service Centre at Brimsdown is owned and operated by Arlington Motor Company Limited, part of the Wincanton Organisation.

Further, a new gearbox wa not fitted by us, in fact the events were as follows: The vehicle was towed in tc us on October 21, which was Monday, after an exchange gearbox had been fitted by London Country, with a reported fault of a noisy gearbox. On investigation it was found that the gearbox ha been fitted incorrectly as the aligning bushes had been left out. We rectified this fault and repaired the subsequent damage and refitted the gearbox. The vehicle was ready for London Country's collection on Monday, Octobei 28, however, the Operator die not collect until Tuesday, October 29.

I hope you do not feel we are being too critical of this article, but feel that the facts, as they happened, should be known to you.
