Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A CLUTCH, gearbox and final drive rtunit is disclosed in patent No. 912,675. This is apparently a development of a general scheme shown in an earlier patent numbered 911,259. (The Austin Motor Co. Ltd., Longbridge, Birmingham.) The unit is directly attached to the longitudinally mounted engine which may be at either the front or rear of the vehicle. The crankshaft is shown at (1) and a clutch (2) takes the drive to the primary gearshaft (3). •The gearbox is a four-speed unit with synchromesh mechanism for all but first and reverse ratios and the patent gives full details of the gears used for each ratio.
