The Lycorning Manufacturing Co., Williamsport, Pa., the engine products of which have, in the past, been used on certain chassis marketed in this country, has recently introduced a new eight-cylindered power unit, designated Model HF. It is of the L-head type and has a bore of 31 ins: and a stroke of 41 ins., giving a piston displacement of 322 cubic ins. The compression ratio is 5.25 to 1, and the rating is 105 h.p. at 2,800 r.p.m. There are five main bearings and a vibration damper is fitted. The pistons are of cast iron and have special ribbing.
Oil circulation is effected by pressure, a filter being bolted to the outside of the crankcase ; it is of the metal-element type. An oil-relief valve is located in the base of the filter. The cooling water is circulated by pump.
Three-point mounting is provided for, the front support being of the company's special design and recessed for a rubber pad.
