Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Durham, has an unusual ERF EC11 340hp (253kW) 6x2 drawbar unit in its fleet.

It's the first ERE' car carrier to have a special Hendrickson mid-lift axle conversion and has been prompted, says Ken Glendinning, because of the increasing weight of saloon cars and 4x4s and the use of people carriers.

"We've found a 17-tonne gross 4x2 drawbar unit can sometimes be a bit marginal," he says. "This arrangement is a good solution". The unit forms part of an car outfit bodied by Transporter Engineering which takes five cars on the unit and six on the trailer.

To cope with the extra weight when large cars are carried up front, a 4M-tonne capacity Hendrickson air-sprung midaxle has been fitted. As the extra load falls well within its limit, only single 17.5in wheels are used.

The 5.5m outer axle spread unit has a lowered roof and inverted camber on the front springs to accommodate the transporter bodywork.
