Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FISHERIES development officer for the Western isles Islands Council, Neil Macpherson, is to visit Roscoff in Brittany to assess developments in the transport of shellfish from Uist to France.

The new developments involve the use of a Vivier lorry which keeps lobsters and crabs alive until they are delivered to the market. Mr Macpherson will travel with the vehicle from Uist to Roscoff to assess the success of this form of transport and its implications for future shell-fishing in the Western Isles.

The development of the industry is a key part of the current programme to build up fishing activities in the Western Isles.

The importance of this developing fishery was underlined recently at EEC level when Western Isles representatives stressed that the fisheries must be sufficiently protected from the activities of foreign fishing vessels.
