once again to be included in the general Salon de l'Automobile, which will be held in Paris from October 1-11. In spite of political and industrial troubles, the Paris Show will retain its accustomed brilliance and give proof of the courageous manner in which the French industry is carrying on through the most cliffic-ult times that France has known for a• long while.
Special interest will attach to the beavy-vebicle section, as it will be the first show to be held since the road-rail co-ordination laws have .actually come into operation. The.. mare important _concerns such as Renault, Latil, Laffiy; Bernard,etc., will illuStrate, by their exhibits, .way in whirl the new legislation is being met.
For 1937 the Renault concern has added several new models to its big range of Connnercial vehicles. One of the most important is a 43-passenger oil-engined bus designed to conform with the road
rail co-ordination laws. This vehicle has a Renault six-cylindered 12i-litre engine and a five-speed gearbox.
It is intended for service in country districts, where railway branch-lines are being suppressed in favour of road transport. In this instance, the co-, ordination scheme favours private enterprise, as railway bus or coach ser-. vices are, in France, invariably operated by local contractors.
Tw9 other new Renault heavy-duty chassis , have the 12i-litre oil-engine mentioned above. These are designed far high-speed long-distance goods transport and comprise a 6i-tonner and 71-tanner. The latter vehicle is provided with servo steering gear.
Another new oiler which the Renault company will probably be exhibiting at the Salon is a 10 ton six wheeler Which has two completely independent
