Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE UK arm of US-based tail-lift manufacturer Maxon is to introduce its first body-mounted column lift early next year, featuring an unusual arrangement of twin slimline cylinders.

Since launching its UK lifts at last year’s CV Show, Maxon has focused on chassis-mounted tail-lifts. However, it plans to address the big market for column lifts too, introducing 1-tonne and 1.5-tonne-capacity models for rigid chassis and trailers.

Instead of the customary single horizontal lift cylinder and chains in a floor-level or overhead beam, Maxon’s lift uses a pair of synchronised vertical cylinders, one in each column. This arrangement is used by Maxon in the US, from where this lift is derived. The company said it is a simpler design because it eliminates the lifting chains. The Max 10R and 15R will be available with either aluminium or steel platforms.

Other new models coming from Maxon during the next few months will include a slider (retractable) model designed for rigid chassis, plus a short slider lift with a folding platform that is designed to fit longer semi-trailers with rear-steer axles. Their different axle spacing means these trailers might have a limited rear overhang, so Maxon’s folding platform reduces the under-chassis mounting length required from 2.2m to 1.6m.
