Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

These have been around since Thomas Edison invented the light bulb in the early 19th century. These lamps are the most common on the market; their main benefit is low cost. However, typical bulbs are also the most inefficient source of electric lighting as about 90% of the energy used to light a bulb is wasted as heat. This is an unwelcome side effect if you are lighting a refrigerated vehicle or a poorly ventilated space such as a dry van or box.

Excessive voltage makes the bulb brighter but shortens its life, under-voltage makes the lamp dimmer but extends the life. The light produced by a standard incandescent lamp is yellowish in colour and the human eye haste work harder in this environment.

PROS: Inexpensive.

CONS: Generates heat; inefficient; short life with over-voltage; reduced output with under

voltage; yellowish light.
