Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

READING YOUR article on the wheel-dampers (Clamping — know your rights'. CM 4 October), I have to write to ask a question.Although I myself have not yet been clam ped,I have seen the results of the clampers' night work on the MSAs the next morning, and think to myself, "there but for the grace of god..."

My question is:a lot of lorries are clamped through the night.! assume the dampers don't wake the sleeping drivers to warn them of the impending clamp. So the drivers wake to find a large warning sign on their windscreen and a wheel clamp on their wheel.

So if the drivers aren't informed, how do they know it was a licensed damper who put it on? It could well he that a licensed damper arrives in the morning to take it off, but he/she might not have been the one to put it on.

My point being that if you are not warned of being clamped, you can't ask to see the damper's licence, and could well be clamped by a unlicensed damper, and released the next day by a licensed clamper/operative.

Tam sure the folks who work for these companies are fine upstanding people, but as in all areas there will be cowboys.
