Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Two years after the launch of its Turbostar premium tractive unit and rigid drawbar range on the Continent, Iveco has finally produced right hand drive versions which make their UK debut at the Motor Show this week.

Although Iveco has been promising to begin production of right-hand-drive Turbostars for a long time, the three versions being shown on the Iveco Ford Truck stand at NEC are very much surprise exhibits.

The show models are three tractor units (two 4 X 2, one 6X2) all powered by the 17litre, 309kW (420hp) twinturbocharged, vee-eight 8280.22S Iveco engine.

One of the reasons for the delay in the arrival of the Turbostar in Britain is believed to have been the problems of converting the left-hand-drive's wrap-around facia in the cab.

Compared with other Iveco tractive units in the Iveco Ford Truck range, the Turbostars have a wider, taller, better-appointed sleeper cab, designed primarily for long distance, international work, and exceptionally tall driveline gearing. The vee-eight, 17-litre engine is governed to develop maximum power at only 1,800rpm, but the maximum geared speed of the Turbostar is nevertheless as high as 116km/h (72mph), owing to the 3.08:1 ratio of its

single reduction Rockwell CVC U 180E drive axle.

Standard gearbox for the Turbostar is a direct-top gear, ZF 16-speed, synchromesh, range-change with splitter unit, but Eaton constant-mesh gearboxes are optional. The

vee eight's massive peak torque, of 1,900 (1,4101b. ft.) is developed at a very low engine speed of 1,100rpm.

The lifting trailing axle of the 3.2m wheelbase 6x2 Turbostar is raised electrohydraulically.
