The Birmingham and Midland Motor .Omnibus Co. Ltd., succeeding Mr. J. Pearson, who has taken up a post with Birmingham City. Transport as deputy chief engineer. Mr. Adams first joined Midland Red in 1942 and, after design and development duties, left in 1954 to join The Ford Motor Co. Engineering Research Centre in Birmingham, eventually being appointed design engineer.
Mr. J. K. Bennett is shortly to relinquish his appointment as secretary of "I he Institute of Road Transport Engineers, to become secretary of The Institution of Agricultural Engineers. Mr. Bennett, having had a 10-year term-ofoffice with I.R.T.E. leaves to take up his new appointment in December.

The Minister of Transport has appointed Mr. L N. Toothill a member of the Nationalized Transport Advisory . Council. Mr. Toothill is a director and general manager of Ferranti Ltd., Edinburgh; he is also a member of the National Economic Development Council and chairman of the Scottish Advisory Committee for Civil Aviation, Mr. G. W. Yarwood has been awarded a diploma by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers for his paper: "A Brief Survey of Piston, Ring and Cylinder Liner Technique " and has also been given the Annual Award of 10 gns. for the best member's paper of the year.
