Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

the four models in the range of goods vehicles to be produced for 1036 by E. R. Foden and Son (E.R.F., Ltd.), Sun Works, Sandbach, Cheshire, two are new, and one of these has the new Gardner 4LK oil engine. '

This posver unit is of 3.8 litres capacity and develops 53 b.h.p. at 2,000 r.p.m. It was fully described in our issue dated August 23 last.

• The new E.R.F. 0E4 model, which we believe to be the first chassis in which it is standardized, is rated as a 4-tonner and will be available in three forms—with wheelbases of 11 it., 12 ft. 6 ins. and 8 ft. 6 ins., respectively, the last being for use with a tipping body. This vehicle will replace the three-cylinder 4-tonner.

The other n(Av chassis is a 7i-tonner, and is designated type 2CI4; it replaces

the previous GI4 71-tonner. Powered in this case by the Gardner 4LIV. compression-ignition engine, which develops 65 b.h.p. at 1,550 r.p.m., it will be offered with a short wheelbase

(12 ft. 2 ins.), with a long wheelbase (13 ft. 8 ins.) and, as a tipper, with a 10-ft. 5-in, wheelbase.

The remaining two chassis are practically unchanged. One is the GI5 twiner built for use in conjunction with a trailer, in which case the total load capacity is 13 tons. It has a Gardner 5LW engine. The other is the C1682 eight-wheeler, rated as a 15-tormer. In this -case the power unit is a sixcylindered engine of similar make, Reverting to the new 4-tonner, we surmise that this will prove an extremely attractive machine. The slightly greater power output of the new engine, combined with a considerably higher governed speed, should render it fast and lively.

With a standard body and cab, the short-wheelbase 0E4 has an unladen weight of 2 tons 151 cwt, In the main it follows the specification of its predecessor.

On the 2CI4 rnodel there is a new design of radiator, whilst a number of modifications has been made to the gearbox mechanism.

The standard cab has been much improved, streamlining being a more prominent feature than in that of the earlier model; a sliding roof is a refinement new incorporated. Thi& new saloon cab will be on view at Olympia, where the -model will be shown with a 15-ft. drop-sided body, in which form it weighs 3 tons 181 cwt.
