The waxing of diesel fuel which blocks filters and pipework is explained in addition to measures which are taken by both the vehicle manufacturers and the oil industry, to prevent its occuence.

Also described is the newly introduced Cold Filter Plugging point test method which is now used by oil companies in determining the behaviour of diesel fuel under cold conditions.

Operators of older vehicles, which may not have up-todate design features, are advised how they can help them selves with hints on simple modifications to the vehicles, the carriage of spares, fuel system checks and the layout power units.

It is thought that this is the reason behind the announcement that Rolls-Royce Eagle range engines will be available in the Saviem P range which is of bulk storage installations.
