Furniture transport comprised 80 per cent. of Messrs. Brunsdon's business, but the applicants intended to exchange the Luton van for a dual-purpose container lorry so that livestock haulage could be undertaken.
Granting the application, the Authority said that he was impressed by the substantial amount paid over for the goodwill of Messrs. Brunsdon. He had seen many agreements, and had been a little worried about the small sums which changed hands.
He pointed out that if it were required to change the vehicle, objections could be lodged after the application was published in Applications and. Decisions.
LAW EASED ON FARM TRAILER MARKS
THE Road Vehicles (Registration and Licensing) Regulations, 1955. which came into operation yesterday, consolidate, with certain amendments, all the previous regulations on this subject. There are only two amendments of any consequence:—
(p In the case of tractors and other similar vehicles, and agricultural engines which are not used on public roads except for limited purposes in connection with farming and where a vehicle is used on public roads only when passing from one field to another, there is a relaxation of the law as to the displaying of a registration mark behind any trailer. This concession permits the registration mark of any tractor or similar vehicle in the same Ownership to be displayed on the hack of a trailer towed by another vehicle.
(ii) The provision contained in the previous regulations which required councils, as licensing authorities, to supply the -Postmaster-General with particulars of vehicles fitted with wireless sets, has now been omitted.
