G. Littlewood, Hirst and Sweeting, Ltd., Sheffield Joint Omnibus Committee and Sheffield, Rotherham and Doncaster Corporations claimed that they could cope with the traffic and that abstraction would occur if the application was granted.

Mr. F. K. Sansom, a director, said the excursion licence was not due for renewal untilFebruary, 1957.. The undertaking had been established for many years. Excursions this year had, with a few exceptions, been fully booked, and on many occasions the company had not been able to cater for the demand. They had carried 2,504 people on a Derbyshire circular tour.

Previously, they had carried privatehire parties to the destinations now applied for, but if the application were granted, private-hire work, which had decreased this year, would decrease still further.
