Lowestoft Corporation's highways committee has received a letter from the district engineer of the LendOn and North-Eastern Railway Co., calling attention to a 25-ton lorry belonging to a local firm, and pointing out that, as the Road Traffic Act limits the laden weight of a six-wheeled vehicle to 19 tons, and the weight of a vehicle with a greater number of wheels to 22 tons, a weight of 25 tons is not permissible on the roads.

Road-resurfacing Experiments.

Wallasey Corporation's transport committee is to undertake certain experimental work of resurfacing the abandoned tramways track in Church Street. The borough engineer is to visit Southampton to inspect certain work now in progress in connection with the lifting of old tramways track.

Municipalities and Petrol Price.

It was announced in the early part of the week that representatives of municipal transport undertakings and of the fuel companies in the combine were about to meet to discuss problems associated with their respective in terests. Freighters, two Karrier and two Cominer tipping wagons, four S.D. Freighter interchangeable water and dust carts, and four general-utility vehicles.

Some 224,000 tons of house and shop refuse were collected from 216,762 premises in the city ; 755 miles of streets were regularly cleansed and maintained, 43,430 loads of sweepings were removed, and about 3,177,000 gallons of water distributed.

Success of Corporation's Mobile Cinema Campaign.

Yarmouth Corporation's publicity manager has reported on the municipal cinema-van campaign, extending over 11 weeks and covering 12 counties, and has stated that it proved to be a great success, being one of the most useful that the publicity .committee has ever promoted.

Weekly reports were received from British Films, Ltd., giving details as to where the vein had been showing, the pitch and the number of people present.
