• Norbert Dentressangle subsidiary Aston Clinton Haulage is to appeal to the Transport Tribunal against Eastern LA Compton Boyd's decision to cut its licence from 63 vehicles and 136 trailers to 35 vehicles and 90 trailers because of breaches of the drivers hours' regulations.
Third time lucky
• GBD Reproduction Furniture has won a threevehicle licence based at Bozeat, Northants. GBD had twice failed to gain authority to operate from Rushden, and was ordered to pay £500 of the local authority's costs after the Transport Tribunal decided an appeal against that refusal was unmerited.

• At an Edinburgh public inquiry Scottish LA Michael Betts cut the duration of the licence held by Thornhillbased Peter Stewart but increased the authorisation from one to three vehicles. He gave Stewart a formal warning about maintenance.

• The 10-vehicle licence held by Saxmundham, Suffolkbased Paul Whincop has been reduced VI; eight vehicles by Eastern Traffic Commissioner Compton Boyd because of maintenance problems. Boyd also directed that it terminate at the end of next May instead of in July 1999.
