• The fifth Materials Handling Exhibition in the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow was opened by Sir William Lithgow, chairman of Lithgows Ltd, the Port Glasgow shipbuilder. It closes tomorrow (Saturday).
The importance of Scotland's industrial future, with the development of offshore oil exploration, was emphasized by Sir William and the importance of the exhibition itself was confirmed by the number of foreign exhibitors taking part and with the receipt, within an hour of opening, of an order for £15,000 worth of equipment placed with Millburn-Wilkinson.
