The French Minister of Agriculture advises us that there are only two entries for the demonstrations to be held at Bordeaux in connection with the National Agricultural Show which is announced for the 28th instant to June 4th. This meagre result must be most disappointing to a Lountry which is so peculiarly adapted for the introduction of mechanical power for agricultural purposes. France has a name for intensive cultivation which excels her fame in

the region of automobile construction, yet the response to a widely-advertised and official invitation is practically nil. For, tell it not in Gath, one of the entrants, M. Pilter, of 24, rue Alibert, Paris, is the French agent of the Ivel Agricultural Motors, Ltd., of London and Biggleswade, whilst the other, M. Wallut, of 168, Bd, de la VoBette, l'aris, is reported to be acting for the Scott Agricultural Motors, of 12, North St. Andrew Street, Edinburgh. We may thus see a meeting between these rival makers taking place oa French soil, as well as at Glasgow in July. With so small an entry, it is scarcely worth while for any of our readers to visit Bordeaux, and the exact date of the demonstration is not yet fixed. EDITORIAL communications must be addressed to" The Editor," and should reach the London Office not later than lot post on Monday, if intended for the following Thursday's issue. Sustained and growing interest is being evinced in the trials for commercial motors which are to begin on July 28th. Frequent meetings of the Commission des Concours of the Automobile Club de France are taking place to push forward the arrangements, and the greatest activity appears to be in connection with schemes to increase local interest at Amiens, Dieppe, Le Havre, and Rouen, where exhibitions will be held during the course of the competition. Local committees have been formed—Count de Dion himself visiting Rouen to bring about this desirable result there—to aid the central committee, and it looks as though, for the moment, although the entries do not close until June isth for ordinary fees, and until July loth with extra payments, the whole energies of the Commission were being directed to laying the ground for publicity alone.
