Although both parties have denied that a sale has taken place. Transpeed reveals that it has "taken on a number of stafffrom The Logistix Group, and is -busy looking to pick up any customers the Logistix Group is not servicing anymore".
The Logistix Group gained a franchise with pallet network Fortec for some of its Newcastle postcodes after it purchased the goodwill of collapsed haulier Eric Short Haulage (ESH) last year for £25.000.
ESH went into administration 18 months after it was sold in a highly leveraged deal to businessmen Alex Rawlings and Shahid Hussain. Eric Short maintains he is still owed thousands of pounds from Rawlings and Hussain following completion of the deal.
Fortec later suspended The Logistix Group from its pallet network after the operator was called before a public inquiry where Traffic Commissioner Beverley Bell was considering disciplinary action.
The PI was later adjourned, although the company was granted an interim 0-licence.
Transpeed then took on The Logistix Group's pallet work and it has now taken over Fortees Gateshead postcodes.
Short tells CM that Transpeed boss Paul Nellis met with him to discuss its plan to take over some of the work of The Logistix Group.
He reveals: "Raul just wanted to talk about one or two things, such as the clientele. Transpeed are a professional company. Certainly, they are trying to take things forward."
Fortec MD Neil Hodgson (pictured) says: "Transpeed is a well-established company and a respected licensee of the Fortec network.
He adds: "We are aware of their expansion plans and are totally comfortable with this."
