Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Used truck specialist Chaddesley Commercials (Kidderminster) is aiming to boost its second-hand business by up to 50% following the opening of a new site near Edinburgh.

Chaddesley has bought the 1.2acre Broxburn site previously occupied by Volvo main distributor Eurotruck as part of a "six-figure" investment in Chaddesley Commercials (Scotland). The operation will be run by Willie Ross, who holds shares in the company and was used truck sales manager at Scania dealer Reliable Vehicles.

Ross believes the Scottish operation has the potential to become the largest independent used dealer in Scotland "as operators want a bigger choice North of the Border".

Chaddesley's Kidderminister operation has an annual turnover of about £3.5m on 350 vehicles. According to sales director Paul May, the new Scottish site "can add half as much again, depending on the market conditions".

Both sites will be run independently, says May, although Broxburn will have the potential to tap into Kidderminster's second-hand stock.

"The timing is right," says Ross, "most used sales in Scotland are going through franchised dealers and many buyers looking for a greater variety of stock have to go south of Manchester. We'll win sales from the franchised dealers, but the bulk will be from buyers looking south of the border".

Ross will concentrate on late model Scanias, Volvos, Dafs, Mercedes and ERFs.
