THE PROTOTYPE of a now IVECO bus and coach model powered by a water-cooled Fiat/Unic engine is now nearing completion at the Mainz plant to Magirus-Deutz. Production of these vehicles is due to commence in the coming autumn when it is expected that a large number of the German-built units will be supplied to Fiat for completion.
in the longer term (1978-1981) planned growth of IVECO psv production calls for increased capacity at Mainz where some works extensions are already under construction.
Beginning in 1978 Mainz will become responsible for the supply of space-frame running gear for • the new Fiat 470 model, with an anticipated initial output of 1,000 units per year. At the same time untrimmed vehicles of the Fiat 370 coach design, introduced six months ago (CM. October 1, 1976), Will begin to arrive at the German plant for completion as a Magirus Deutz variant.
