GODFREY DAVIS commercial vehicle leasing operations were boosted this week with the news that they are to buy the 750 strong fleet of the Hertz Organisation. The fleet includes 200 vehicles used on daily rental operations but it is the leasing side of the business that has attracted Godfrey Davis.

Godfrey Davis board chairman Mr Cecil Redfern told CM this week that his company had only recently gone into the leasing market.

Contract

"It is the leasing business that we are really interested in," said Mr Redfern, "and of course the customers that it will bring to the company."

At present no price has been agreed or contract signed and Mr Redfern said that this will all be completed by the end of the financial year.

The new moves will give Godfrey Davis a commanding 950 commercial vehicle fleet — one of the largest in the market.

A spokesman for the Hertz organisation said that the move away from commercial vehicle operations was in line with their policy of concentrating resources in the car hire and leasing sector.
