Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Weight debate

NO early decision is expected on EEC proposals to increase lorry weights, Transport Minister Mr William Rodgers told the Commons last week.

And he promised a Commons debate before any decision is reached.

Replying to a question the Minister said he would not agree to a weight increase unless it could be reconciled with safety and invironment needs. The problem remained as to how far heavy vehicles met their true cost.

Depot move

KWIKASA1R has moved its northern depot to a new 26,000 sq ft building at Haydock, near both Manchester and Liverpool to complete a chain of main line terminals from London to Glasgow.

The company has also opened a new sub-depot at Derby bringing to eight the number of new depots opened in the past eight months.

Groupage service

WHITE Trux International is to start a new UK groupage service coupled with a daily delivery to London. The company will clear goods from pick-up points in the South East for delivery to anywhere in the UK.

The company says that the new M2 motorway will allow it to guarantee delivery within 24 hours in the London area — and it will be including Dover bonded warehouse in the pick-up points.

VW changes

SMALL modifications to the Volkswagen LT range of light commercial vehicles will make the bodybuilders' job easier.

The fuel tank and filler have been re-sited to provide a completely flat chassis for body mounting, leaving only the wheel arch dimensions for consideration.

New gearbox ratios of 1st 5.01., 2nd 2.53, 3rd 1.43 and 4th 1.00 to 1 are included on all new 1977 models, intended to provide improved flexibility.
