T"importance of skilled attention to greasing was among the points stressed at the March meeting of the North Western Centre of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers. A representative of Manchaster Corporation pointed out that the undertaking had instituted a school for training cleaners for ultimate upgrading to greaser standards.

• A discussion took place on the value of the group-nipple system, which several speakers contended•was apt to be inefficient or to cause waste. NEW VAN FOR 7,000 LOAVES

/-1 A N all-aluminium body for a semi

trailer outfit to carry bread has been constructed for Richard Sharrock and Sons, Ltd., Manchester, by Oswald Tillotson, Ltd., Burnley. Noral alloys supplied by Northern Aluminium Co., Ltd., were used for the complete body, which has a well-planned arrangement of shelves.

Having regard to the nature of the goods carried, capacity is of primary importance, and the special construction permits 7,000 2-1b. loaves on 256 trays, equal to a payload of 7itons, to be carried. The body is 24 ft. 9 ins. long. 7 ft. 3 ins, wide, and 7 ft. 101 ins. high. Aluminium-alloy panelling provides a rustless smooth surface which is easy to keep clean.

It is claimed that a ton of unladen weight has been saved by using light alloys. The tractor unit is a Maudslay A leaflet dealing with platinumiridium ignition contacts has recently been published by Messrs. Runbaken Electrical Products, Oxford Road, Manchester.
