Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

May 21) was not alone in making approaches to the Road Transport Industry Training Board to draw unemployed people from the employment exchanges to supply the industry with trained personnel.

In 1968 SABHAATA were asked to cooperate with the RTITB in bringing about some training activity for the industry, since this organization is the only organization that specializes in one particular section of the transport industry making its own representation to government departments on tippers and rubbish containers.

We presented the RTITB with drawings, plans, and a site for the sole purpose of training. However, it will suffice to say that in the planned training syllabus for that Training College that never happened were plans to take in a percentage of trainees from the employment exchanges and rehabilitate them into the Transport industry.

With many others we have.been embarrassed by this additional tax office known as the RTITB, so we more than welcome the idea of getting a supply of trained personnel from outside the industry to help offset the very high percentage rate labour flow in the industry. If I have any comment to make it would be: why stop at hgv drivers? There are so many other jobs in the industry that I am quite sure could be filled by the many, unhappy unemployed.

THOS. H. TH1RKELL, SECRETARY AND EXECUTIVE OFFICER, SABHAA TA.
