Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A long-lasting natural rubber snowplough blade, which, it is claimed, has a life some five times as long as a conventional steel plough blade and is highly resistant to shock loads, has been produced by the general products division of the Goodyear Tyre and Rubber Co. (GB) Ltd, at the Craigavon factory in Northern Ireland. The rubber blade saves replacement costs, and the fact that the blade is reversible also lengthens its life. The new blade is compounded to give a self-adjusting feature. It will plough over road irregularities, obstacles and raised lane markings without causing damage, and this makes continuous operation safer without the need for frequent fittings due to surface obstructions. The self-adjusting quality means that the blade hugs, the road close enough to plough hard-packed heavy snow as well as light blowing snow more efficiently, and to squeeze slush without damaging the road surface.

The blade is recommended for use on front-mounted ploughs riding on casters or shoes, unsupported free-mounted ploughs, underbody mounted ploughs and graders, especially when steel blade life is too short and /or blade-maintenance costs are high. Goodyear distributors will help with the fitting of the blades.
