John Peyton, Minister for Transport Industries, returns from a visit to Madrid tomorrow (Saturday). Mr Peyton is attending the

Ministerial Council of the European Conference of Ministers of Transport which ends today. Mr Peyton is, this year, first vicepresident of the ECMT Council and will be president next year.

Leslie Smith, general manager of Leicester City Transport and a member for the past eight years of the transport committee of the Associated British Chambers of Commerce, has now been elected chairman of this committee. Obituaries

We record with regret the deaths of Reginald Ernest Britton, and Thomas Marshall.

Mr Britton, 76, was founder of Parkers Tours Ltd, of Doncaster. For a number of years he had been in business as a Hull haulage contractor before moving to Doncaster.

Mr Marshall, 50, was a director of Peak Trailers Ltd, of Stockport. He was piloting a Piper Cherokee plane which crashed in the Conway Valley, Snowdonia, while on a flight from Manchester to Cork last Friday.
