• At a meeting of the Teesside Council's transport committee it was revealed that Teesside Corporation buses, according to provisional figures, lost only £30,000 instead of a figure of £80,000 which had been anticipated. An improvement in the staffing position and the extension of one-man-operated buses was noted. Commenting, Mr William C. Wilson, the transport manager said they had probably never operated as efficiently since May 1963. The committee agreed to a union request for a free annual issue of two white shirts and a black tie. This will cost some £2000 a year but it is felt it will result in a smarter turnout of drivers and conductors.
