• Attacks on nationalized transport undertakings were causing dismay and upset among management and staff, said Mr Walter Johnson (Labour, Derby South).
The staff of British Road Services, National Carriers and Freightliners were doing their utmost to make a success of their businesses and continual attacks were having demoralizing effects.
Mr Johnson made this point after what he called a "loaded and inspired question" from Mr T. H. H. Skeet (Tory, Bedford) who had asked that British Transport Holding be ordered gradually to reduce and fade out the general haulage section of BRSL.
