Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Hhe Vehicle Inspectorate writes to say that a new tool has been developed to Improve corrosion assessment in the MoT test".

Sounds good news — especially as the old method relied on a visual inspection and a finger and thumb pressure test being carried out by testers.

So what is this technological breakthrough? According to the VI "the corrosion assessment tool comprises a durable acetal resin (engineering plastic) head on a short aluminium alloy shaft, about 160mm long, with a tapered curved blunt spade end".

Oh, come on chaps — why not call a spade a spade? Or in this case, a hammer.
