• A 16-week resurfacing programme has begun along the M61 southbound near Chorley, Lancs.
Work will cover about 8km of the motorway south of Junction 9 (Walton Summit) down to Junction 6 (Harwich).
Contraflows will be in operation, but two lanes in both directions are being kept open throughout the work.
